February 2010: School Inspections

NewsWhile the Schools where closed around Leeds Cat Access was busy helping carrying out essential repairs. The machines are designed to work on both the tarmaced playing area and the grassed playing area. On this job in Leeds we started inside replacing lights in gym area working on electric and then went outside to replace lights on school playing field using the diesel engine. With the low point loadings and narrow designed the machines are ideal for gaining Access to tight areas which normal powered machine struggle to work in.

At this primary School in Leeds we had to go through normal double doors for the gym area and then single gates to enter where the nursery area was. The machine was used by outside contractors and the school its self to carry out the work. More schools are seeing the cost saving by using the Spider Style machines in and around their Schools by using a machine that is so versatile. By charging a single day rate with operators the School saved by not having to source two or three different machines. Cat Access supplied all the boards to work on the grass and operators for all work. We completed the work and removed the machine back to Castleford that evening.

February 2010: Difficult Access in Leeds

NewsOne of our customers contacted us, asking if we could solve a difficult Access problem which would include putting a Spider Style Machine into a garden. The customer had already contacted a couple of local scaffolding companies and received there prices. The jobs was to inspect and repair damage to five chimney stacks on the same building. After meeting the customer on site we decided the best way forward was to remove a fence panel and drive the new Basket 18.90 down our ramps and into the garden. The ramps are longer and more heavy duty than our normal trailer ramps.

NewsThe Basket 18.90 is a fully remote controlled Access machine which allowed us to control it from a safe distance. The trailer was backed up to the wall and then supported. Within a couple of minutes the machine was driven in to the garden and ready for work. We choose the Basket 18.90 for two reasons it has 9.5m of outreach and can also be driven remotely. The customer managed to repair all five chimneys and we drove the machine out of the garden back on to our trailer. After putting the fence panel back and removing the boards that we had used to protect the grass when then returned to Castleford.

The customers were very happy with the machine and was even more pleased with the saving we passed on to him compared to using five different scaffold towers around the house. Please have a look at our products page a download the Basket 18.90 spec sheet to see its full potential.

December 2009:NEW Haulotte Star 10

Due to our expansion we have decided to introduce the Star 10 personnel lifts. We already have the CAT 23 in our fleet which have been very busy all year and needed some more personnel lifts. We choose the Star 10 due to its compact design and has been able to gain access where the CAT 23 could not reach. The Star 10 has 3 meters of outreach which enables us to access areas which need outreach but did not allow any tail-swing. The Star 10 has zero tail-swing and a compact narrow design which has been a very good choice. The star 10 spec is available to down load from our products page.
